As dog lovers it’s unfathomable to us how someone could hurt a beautiful canine. These things happen however, and sometimes the best thing to do is look at the people who save the abused.

When the Orange County, FL Police Department received a call about a pair of abandoned Pit Bulls left on the side of a street, they sprang into action.

Officers Boggs and Reed were dispatched to the location until Animal Services could arrive, according to a story in The Best Breed.

Upon arrival, Boggs and Reed huddled up to the pups, going beyond the call of duty and comforting them with love every step of the way.

One of the dogs was bleeding from the leg – the officers tended the wound.

The shelter who received the dogs named the Justice and Liberty.

Even with bad people in the world, there is always Justice and Liberty.

Just like humans, most dogs would do anything to protect their kids. Such is the case with Rainbow, the homeless Pit Bull. According to a story in The Dodo, after giving birth, a major storm swept through California and threatened the lives of her young.

But Rainbow and her pups persevered. She took her litter into nearby bushes and gave them shelter for as long as she could.

Rescue foundation Hope For Paws was informed of the situation and set out to find them.

“This is a crazy, crazy situation,” Eldad Hagar, founder of Hope for Paws, said.

According to The Dodo, locals had been trying to rescue Rainbow for months but she was stubborn, running away from help. The storm proved too much for her however and she finally accepted the assistance.

Rainbow kissed her babies as the rescuers took them all out of the bushes.

Rainbow is truly a strong mother, and a reminder that we should all do anything we can to help our loved ones.

After being rescued from an abandoned crack house, Ashley the Pit Bull was welcomed into her new family: the New York City Fire Department, according to a story from CBS News.

Last month, animal rescuers Erica Mahnken and Michael Favor came across Ashley after receiving a call from an anonymous tip that said the dog was alone in the unheated house without food or water.

According to CBS, upon arrival, Mahnknen and Favor found the dog starving and abused with cigarette burns.

In early January, Mahnken got in touch with a branch of the FDNY and asked if they’d be interested in giving the pooch a loving foster home for a while. In almost no time after fostering Ashley, the firefighters called Mahnken up and asked if they could adopt her for good.

“My heart wants to explode,” Mahnken told CBS News. “Everyone’s so quick to judge a dog, especially a dog you don’t know where it came from or what kind of person they are and what kind… It is very satisfying.”

Since being adopted only two months ago, Ashley has garnered a substantial Twitter following, with over 20,000 followers!
