5 Great Activities for Your Bulldog
It seems to me like it is widely assumed that Bulldogs are naturally lethargic animals and don’t need to be involved with any activities.
Well, this really couldn’t be further from the truth! Bulldogs need stimulation in the form of activities whether it is mental or physical. Incorporating these 5 activities into your daily routine can enrich your Bulldog’s life and give him/her some added joy.
So without further ado, let’s take a look at these 5 great activities:
- Hide and Seek: Believe it or not, hide and seek is a great way to exercise your Bulldog physically and mentally. You can hide around trees or in your backyard, or anywhere you see fit. Naturally, most Bulldogs like to follow and seek their humans. This can get your Bulldog running around in the backyard and help challenge their mind while they try and find you.
- Fetch: A classic, playing fetch with your Bully is a great physical activity. Dogs have a natural instinct to hunt or herd, and Bulldogs are no different. Bulldogs were originally bred to herd Bulls! Hence the name. Fetch can get them up and moving and give them an instinctual task.
- New Toys: Just like humans, dogs get bored of toys. They may “figure it out” or chew a toy to death, and after that they simply get bored. Incorporating fresh new toys is a great way to stimulate your Bully mentally. Using a food puzzle toy is also a great way to keep your Bulldog busy. These kind of toys trap treats in them, and your Bulldog must figure out how to get them out!
- Tug-Of-War: A Bulldog favorite, playing tug of war is an excellent way to get some physical activity in for your Bully. If your pup is anything like mine, he could play tug-of-war for days. Just try to keep it indoors on hot days to avoid any kind of overheating issues.
- Walk to New Places: Discovering new places is a great experience for your Bulldog and will keep them happy. Bulldogs are eager to learn, and one way you can help them learn is by allowing them to visit new places! It helps them mature and understand their surroundings. Take your dog out for a walk and let him explore a little bit! Don’t forget to use a Bullymake harness for this one!
So there you have it! 5 easy activities you can do every day with your Bully to keep him/her happy. Enrich your Bulldog’s life with these easy to do tips!

We play tag with ours, he loves it. You say tag your it and he chases you, after he touches you he runs in the other direction, until you reach him.
Oh that's great! You have a smart Bully on your hands if he knows how to play tag! :D
My Bo likes to chase his brother Bullet around the dog house. It is the size of a play house one will go the other will chase finally Bo gets smart and changes direction and Bullet runs right into him. Bo looks so proud of himself. Bullet looks confused ( he is a German Shepard) (2) We walk around a corm field .He likes to explore though I have to keep him on a leash ( Bullet can run free) Bo will not come back until he is ready if not leashed (3) They love to run in and out of a baby pool (4) Bo has a special toy ( purple dragon ) he loves to hide it under the pillows on couch if I take it out and put it on floor he will run get it and dig his way under pillows and push it between cushions (5) Bo loves to play with kids he runs ,jumps rope, tries to ride skate board chases bikes what ever the kids do he wants to be a part of it.
Well Bo and Bullet sound awesome! That's definitely something worth mentioning - another awesome activity could simply be having another dog on your hands!
Thanks for the comment.
Our bully Roxy, loves to play chase us and try to drug my son around by his feet. She also love fetch and going for short walks and swimming in the lake behind out house. She can never get enough time to play ball or tug a war. She is 3 years old and still loves playing. I will tell everyone this is the first English bull dog that has own me and that they should all get one to own them.
Wish I had a lake behind my house, haha! My male bulldog is such a puller that tug-of-war is his go to activity of choice, for sure.
I do doggydance with my bulldog Karel, twice a week and he likes it !!
doggydance? You'll have to enlighten me on that one! :D
That's what Bulldogs do best - bring joy to lives! Thanks for the post!
I have just taken in a american bulldog, she is 4 years old. Her previous owner gave her up because she went to bite a new baby in the family. She is very sweet but i know the previous owners did not train her right... and never excersized her. She has had some signs of aggression especially people coming into my home. Any advice
