Me like happy Frenchy. You like happy Frenchy. Frenchy like happy Frenchy.
Let’s just jump right into it, shall we?
1. Take him/her on a gersh dern walk.
Yeah, I know, sometimes it’s easier to sit there and binge watch “House.” But a French Bulldog does need a walk (sometimes) to keep the pooch mentally stimulated and physically fit!
2. Clean the creases.
If you are a French Bulldog owner, chances are you already know this. But make sure you do it. Somebody once asked me what it smells like, and the best answer I could come up with is “Doggy B.O.”
3. Teach them stuff.
Although being stubborn, Frenchies do like to learn and be taught. Recently I taught my Bulldog to go in the crate. You know how I did it? I sat there and threw Cheetos in the back of the crate and said “crate.” Guess what? Now he LOVES the crate (and a plethora of Cheetos).
4. Let them socialize.
This applies to any dog breed, but dogs really love to socialize with other dogs. It’s hugely beneficial to a dog’s mental health.
5. Give ’em good toys.
French Bulldogs freakin’ LOVE chew toys (and really any toy). However, they can get bored with toys and/or destroy them. Oh, wait, what is that I hear? There is an awesome product for that? Check out our Bullymake Boxes:
Yeah, dogs love this stuff – especially Frenchies.
6. Show some love!
Not like that’s all that difficult. How can you resist that squish face and those bat ears?
7. Introduce new activities.
Sometimes taking them for a walk can get old. Introduce new activities like hide and seek, tug of war, or fetch.
8. Groom.
Although your Bully might be stubborn and fight it, they secretly like being groomed. Clean the ears and coat, clip the nails, clean the eyes – and of course, the creases.
9. Avoid Rawhide like the plague.
Never, ever, ever, give your Frenchy rawhide. It is a huge choking and digestive hazard.

My frenchy loves yogurt, nuts (not macadamia) jelly beans
Be careful with the nuts mine got 2 pieces of nuts caught in his nose and couldn't sleep until they took them out at the hospital, and that cost close to 5 thousand dollars..poor little guy I hate to talk about it but I don't want it to happen to any other frenchie.
Awesome post :)
we own 5 amerucaqn bulldogs. They are our life...
Coconut yogurt (no dairy, no soy) has significantly helped with Frenchy gassiness

Mine is on a tablespoon of whole milk organic plain yogurt with every meal and NO GAS!

I'm a new Frenchie mom.. I adore my Maddie Grace and this site is excellent
Was your puppy born November 6?
My 14 week old frenchie is pooping in his bed/crate through the night. Any advice I'm losing the will! ☹️
Hi Kiz, our frenchies are both 15 weeks old now and since they were pups we have had two crates cable tied together with the door open connecting them. In one of the crates there is bedding and in the other there is puppy pads and newspaper for them to do their business on. In the day you can try to teach him to go on the newspaper to go and hopefully he will do it in the night! Haven't had any mishaps doing this! Hope it helps.
Sometimes Frenchies take a little longer to potty train. It really takes the trainer (you) to have a regular schedule and take them out whether they think they need it or not. They really will catch on and it will no longer be a problem. Does take a bit of monitoring and oversight initially. They are very smart and loving companions and love to please.
My frenchie has a infected corkscrew tail which the smell is horrible and it bleeds he's been on antibiotics couple of times goes away when he's on antibiotics but when the antibiotics are done the infection comes back. Help has anyone else have or how through this?
We had an English Bulldog that this happened to and she had to have the end of her tail removed. After it healed she didn't have anymore issues.
Great article. We do agility with our 2 frenchies they love the feeling of accomplishment and their bulldog stubbornness works well because there is not an obstacle that they won't tackle. A frame, Titter, dog walk are the obstacles that our frenchies love the most.
